It seems like this time of year, it is impossible for us to all stay well for more than a few weeks. I will say, Sara is significantly healthier since she got her tubes in at 5 1/2 months. But after going to nursery, the grocery store, park, or the gym (germ filled places) she is bound to get sick.
My sister has 3 kids that were recently diagnosed with strep and the flu. And her youngest, only 5 months old, also had an ear infection. Whew!
Is it just impossible to keep our kids healthy or are there things we can do to help? Or maybe we're doing our kids a favor by building up their immune systems while they are young.
This is an interesting article about why keeping them clean could actually being making them sick.

yeah sydney was sick all the time from when she turned 7 months or so till she was like 2...it drove me crazy..i also worked at a gym day care and brought her with me so that was bound to happen. Now though when she does get sick its not for very long and the symptoms are not that bad. I think it paid off for her earlier years!! FINALLY!! London just hardly gets sick..she got lucky I guess. Good luck with sick kids..NO FUN!!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like everyone is getting sick alot lately. My son has 3 times in the last 3 months. Hope everyone feels better.
ReplyDeleteWe are supposed to get sick, fighting germs is how we "work out" our immune system and keep it strong. If we sterilize everything, our kids never develop immunity to things. It is actually a good thing to have your kid get dirty and get germs from other kids. She will be healthier when she goes to school if she gets sick at a younger age.
